Beyond Apple Pie: Sweet and Savory Galettes

In this all ages hands-on class, bakers will tackle both sweet galettes like spiced apple or cranberry and savory galettes, like roasted butternut squash and gorgonzola or potato leek. You will learn the basics of preparing and handling galette pastry, and how to prepare and arrange decadent galette fillings so that they also look stunning. Each participant will bring home a savory and a sweet galette.

In Teaching Table's baking series for junior chefs ages 10 to 14, participants will understand the chemistry of baking, utilize proper measurement techniques, experiment with substitutions that work, explore vegan, gluten free and low sugar desserts, and design their own baked goods. Each week, participants will take home samples of the sweet and savory treats they bake.
