August in New York is a great time to taste and appreciate fruits and vegetables of all colors! In this Summer Cooking Intensive, foodies ages 7-11 will explore a rainbow of seasonal and locally available whole produce. Each day, we will showcase a different color of the rainbow and apply various preparations including hot, cold, sweet and savory. Participants will learn how foods get their distinctive colors and about the various nutrients provided through the colors. Daily menus and dishes will be determined by the young chefs based on the inspiration provided by the produce, but they can expect to work on knife skills, seasoning, balance and texture and will produce salads, vinagrettes, pasta dishes, pestos, pizza, sushi rolls, stir fry, cobblers, ice cream, galettes and more! This fully supervised 5 1/2-hr cooking workshop is a drop-off program.
Ages 7-11 years old.
Lunch and snack is included. We eat what we make.
You can register your child for the entire intensive (Monday - Thursday) or select 1, 2 or 3 of the 4 days. Please indicate preferred days in the form below.
$115 per student daily or $435 for all 4 days (save $25 when registering for the whole intensive). Each student will also receive a youth-sized apron and recipe booklet to take home.
